PURPOSE: To provide a composition for dermal administration, containing a nicotinic acid ester, and effective to increase the transcutaneous permeability and absorptivity of the drug component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition for dermal administration and effective to increase the transcutaneous absorptivity of a drug component can be produced by using the nicotinic acid ester of formula I (R is ≥5C alkyl) as an active component. The transcutaneous absorptivity of a drug can be improved further by using the compound of formula I in combination with a polar compound such as lower alcohol, glycerol, lactic acid, cyclic urea of formula II (R1WR2 are H or lower alkyl), etc. The amount of the compound of formula I is preferably 0.5W70wt% based on the sum of the polar compound and the compound of formula I. The present composition for dermal administration is preferably compound preliminarily with a drug (e.g. local anesthetic, antihistiaminic, antibiotic, etc.).
