Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve oxidation stability and to maintain high cooling performance and brightness in spite of repetitive use for hardening by incorporating a base oil of a mineral oil system, a copolymer of ethylene and α-olefin and the alkeline earth metal salt of alkylsalicylic acid at prescribed ratios into the above compsn.
CONSTITUTION: The mineral oil (for example, paraffin oil, naphthenic oil) is used as the base oil of this heat treating oil. The heat treating oil is formed of the compsn. essentially consisting of 0.01 to 20 copolymer of the ethylene and α-olefin (for example, propylene, 1-butene, 1-hexene, etc.) and 0.05 to 5 alkaline earth metal salt of the alkylsalicylic acid per 100 base oil in pts.wt. The above-mentioned heat treating oil has the excellent oxidation stability and maintains the high cooling performance and brightness in spite of the repetitive use for hardening.
