Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a composition to be used for delivering a useful substance, especially a therapeutic agent having activities for an organism producing dental plaques to a target site locatable in the mouth. CONSTITUTION: This composition for topical application comprises a liposome, containing a biphenol compound, capable of manifesting a wide range of antimicrobial activities against pathogenic germs in the mouth and having <=2,000 molecular weight (e.g. 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxydiphenyl ether), etc., and provided with a means capable of binding to a target site in the mouth such as a lectin on the lateral face thereof.
