Abstract:

To provide a composition for a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal display element, which can improve thermal stability and mechanical stability and also reduce the driving voltage in a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal display element.

The composition for a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal contains a polymerisable compound at a content ranging from 0.01% to 10%, which is represented by general formula (I-a), wherein the glass transition temperature of a polymerized product of the compound ranges from -100°C to 25°C. The composition also contains a specific liquid crystal compound. The polymer-stabilized liquid crystal display element contains such a composition as a component.
