PURPOSE: To obtain a compsn. for a dehydrating agent having improved flocculating and dehydrating performance and improving properties of formed flocks by adding an amphoteric high molecular compd. to a cationic high molecular compd.
CONSTITUTION: An amphoteric high molecular compd. contg. cationic units represented by at least one of formulae I, II, II', III and III' and anionic units represented by formula IV is added to a cationic high molecular compd. so that the amphoteric high molecular compd. accounts for 0.1-15wt.% of the total amt. and they are mixed to obtain a compsn. for a sludge dehydrating agent. In the formulae I-IV, each of R1 and R2 is H, methyl or cyclohexyl, R3 is H or methyl, R4 is H, methyl or benzyl, each of R5 and R6 is methyl or benzyl, X is an anion such as a halogen or methylsulfate anion and each of Y's is H, Na, K or NH4.
