PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having beautifying and whitening action, excellent in stability and persistency of pharmacodynamic effects and useful for cosmetics, external medicines, etc., by including a plant extract belonging to the genus Melothria of the family Cucurbitaceae and a pharmacodynamic agent such as tyrosinase activity inhibitor.
SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) preferably 0.00001-10wt.% extract of a plant belonging to the genus Melothria of the family Cucurbitaceae, e.g. Melothria indica, Melothria heterophylla or Melothria japonica and (B) preferably 0.001-5wt.% one or two or more kinds of pharmacodynamic agents selected from a tyrosinase activity-inhibiting agent such as cysteine, an active oxygen-removing agent such as SOD, an antioxidant such as vitamin A, a cell activator such as deoxyribonucleic acid, an antiinflammatory agent such as glycyrrhetic acid and a humectant such as hyaluronic acid.
