PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for thermal storage, having high flame retardancy and safety and further energy saving and environmental protection effects due to its ability to utilize midnight electric power, solar energy, industrial waste heat, etc., by adding a specific heat stabilizer to erythritol.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by adding (B) a silicic acid compound (preferably amorphous silica and/or an aluminosilicate) and/or (C) a bi- or a trivalent inorganic compound (preferably at least one compound selected from the group consisting of calcium hydroxide, quick lime, magnesium hydroxide, zinc hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide and calcium carbonate) to (A) erythritol. Furthermore, the amount of the added component (B) is preferably 0.0005-1% and that of the added component (C) is preferably 0.0005-10%. An erythritolphobic substance (preferably paraffin, vitamin E, etc.) is preferably added to the objective composition.
