PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound having thiol protease inhibitory activity, useful for preventing softening of sporozoan-parasitic fish meat, treating muscular dystrophy, etc., by culturing Aspergillus microbes capable of producing this compound 460A.
CONSTITUTION: This new compound 460A is expressed by the formula, having thiol protease inhibitory activity, thus being applicable to sporozoan-parasitic fish meat having been entirely of no utility value as a food processing material to prevent the meat-softening action derived from thiol protease and enabling the production of raw or frozen ground fish meat similar to the case using sporozoan-nonparasitic fish meat, and further, being also hopeful as a therapeutic agent for muscular dystrophy and cataract. The compound is obtained by culturing Aspergillus microbes having ability to produce this compound 460A (e.g. Aspergillus oryzae ATCC 20386) in a medium and taking the compound from the resultant cultured product.
