To obtain a liquid crystal compound which has chemical stability, excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds, high dielectric constant anisotropy and low optical anisotropy, a composition which comprises the compound and has high resistivity and a large voltage retention ratio and to provide a liquid crystal display element comprising the composition.
The liquid crystal compound is represented by formula (1) [Ra is a 1-20C alkyl in which an arbitrary -CH2- may be substituted with -O- or the like; A1, A2 and A3 are each ring structure; Z1, Z2 and Z3 are each a bond group; m and n are each 0 or 1; Rb is a group represented by formula (Rb-1) and (Rb-2); A4 is 1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene in which arbitrary hydrogen in the ring is substituted with a halogen; p is an integer of 0-10]. The liquid crystal composition comprises the compound and the liquid crystal display element comprises the composition.
