Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystalline compound having low phase transition temperature and excellent processability and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A liquid crystalline compound herein has a 6,7-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,c][7]annulene skeleton represented by the chemical formula (1) as a mesogen. The liquid crystalline compound may have substituents at positions 3 and 9 of the 6,7-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,c][7]annulene skeleton. Such substituents may bind to 6,7-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,c][7]annulene skeleton directly, or through a phenylene group or through an ethynyl group and a phenylene group in this order.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
