Abstract:

To provide a compound that has a high affinity to a CD22 molecule in a B cell and enhances immunoresponse to thereby exhibit activities including an activity of enhancing proliferation of the B cell and an activity of increasing resistance against infectious diseases such as virus-mediated diseases.

The compound is a sialic acid derivative represented by chemical formula (1) (wherein R1 and R2 are each an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon group) or a prodrug thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate thereof.
