Title:
COMPOUND MACHINING LATHE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59227343
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable use of common rotary tools both in front and side machining, by constructing the lathe so that the both operations can be effected by only one rotary spindle.

CONSTITUTION: In a compound machining lathe having a tool rest on which two tools can be mounted exchangeably, the tool test 11 is mounted on a cross slide 10 to swivel over 180° on the pivotal axis TA, which is set so as to intersect the main spindle center 8 at an angle of 45°. Two holes 11a and 11b for mounting tools are provided on the tool rest 11 so that their mounting axes 11c, 11d make respectively an angle of 45 deg. with the axis TA on the same plane, while these axes 11c, 11d intersecting mutually at a right angle. Further, each axis 11c, 11d is provided in such a manner that it can be indexed and positioned to be in a plane formed by the axis TA and the spindle center 8. Thus, it is enabled to use common tools.
