Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a proper temperature in a cylinder in executing CI combustion.SOLUTION: A compression self ignition gasoline engine includes negative pressure changing means 39 capable of changing a negative pressure generated in an exhaust gas collection portion 35 forming a common space communicated with each of independent exhaust passages 31, and external EGR means 50 for recycling an exhaust gas discharged from each of the cylinders to each of the cylinders through an intake passage 20 as an external EGR gas. In a first operation region A1 of low engine load, an exhaust valve 9 is opened and closed in an internal EGR mode for opening the valve even in an intake stroke in addition to an exhaust stroke, and the external EGR is stopped. On the other hand, in a second operation region A2 of high engine load, the exhaust valve 9 is opened and closed in the internal EGR mode, the external EGR is executed, and a negative pressure in the exhaust gas collection portion 35 is increased by the negative pressure changing means 39.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
