To immediately evaporate fuel immediately even if the fuel adheres on the inner wall surface of a cylinder bore so as to make the generation amount of soot and NOx substantially zero by using fuel, the distillation temperature and cetane number of which are respectively specified as fuel to be injected.
Output signals of a load sensor 31 connected to an accelerating pedal 30 and a crank angle sensor 32 are input to an electronic control unit 20, and the control unit calculates the fuel injection amount according to the operating condition to inject fuel from a fuel injection valve 13 to an intake pipe 10 only for the time corresponding to the fuel injection amount. In this case, as injection fuel, used is fuel, the distillation temperature of which is about 200°C or less, the cetane number of which is about 5 or more. Thus, the distillation temperature of fuel is set substantially 200°C or less, whereby even if the fuel adheres to the inner wall surface of the intake pipe 10, the adhering fuel can be evaporated to be supplied to the interior of a combustion chamber 5 which intake air. Further, the cetane number of the fuel is set to 5 or more, thereby causing selfignition so as to restrain the generation of soot and NOx.
