PURPOSE: To uniformly compress air-permeable bulky material such as wadding in a short time by compressing the air-permeable bulky material by belts having a squeezing mechanism.

CONSTITUTION: When elastic and bulky material 7 such as wadding, which is wound up in a roll shape, or one wrapped by a film bag made of air- unpermeable synthetic resin as required, is to be compressed, the air-permeable bulky material 7 is rested on a plate 6 placed between belts 4 and 4' at the upper section of a squeezing mechanism 5, the end section of upper section covers 2 and 2' above the belts 4 and 4' are closed, and the squeezing mechanism 5 holding the belts 4 and 4' is then moved up thereafter. By this constitution, the air-permeable bulky material 7 is compressed, the compressed bulky material 7 is then taken out of a compression device 1, and it is wrapped by a bag and the like thereafter. This constitution thereby allows the air-permeable bulky material 7 to be uniformly compressed toward the center direction, and also concurrently, enables time required to be thereby shortened.
