To provide a compression type refrigerating machine and its lubricant recovering method capable of performing a stable operation by properly recovering a lubricant from a refrigerant regardless of a temperature condition of cooling water without bringing efficiency degradation.

A lubricant recovering buffer tank 43 is disposed besides a lubricant tank 35 disposed in a lubricant circulating system for supplying the lubricant having compatibility to the refrigerant, to a bearing 25 by a lubricant pump 41. The lubricant recovering buffer tank 43 and a lubricant recovering hole 47 of a compressor 13 are communicated by piping 49 having an opening/closing valve 51. The lubricant recovering buffer tank 43 and the evaporator 10 are communicated by piping 53 having a bleeding compressor 57 for bleeding the air in the lubricant recovering buffer tank 43, and an opening/closing valve 55. The lubricant recovering buffer tank 43 and the lubricant tank 35 are communicated by piping 63 having an opening/closing valve 65 so that the lubricant is transferred to the lubricant tank 35 from the lubricant recovering buffer tank 43.
