PURPOSE: To reduce further the deterioration of a display device due to the screen display of a fixed pattern by turning off the power supply of the display device power supply control part when a human body detecting device detects that no person is in front of terminal equipment.

CONSTITUTION: It is set by a time-out setting part 1 how many seconds after the last key input the power supply of the display device is to be turned off, and it is detected by an event generation detecting part 2 whether input from a keyboard or a plotting request or time-out are being generated or not. If an event is generated, it is decided by a time-out detecting part 3 whether or not the event is the time-out, and if the event is the time-out, the power supply of the display device is turned off by the display device power supply control part 5. If it is not the time-out, an event processing part 4 processes the generated event. Besides, even if the event is not generated when the human body detecting device detects the absence of the person in front of the terminal equipment, the power supply of the display device is turned off by the control part 5. Thus, the deterioration of the display device due to the screen display of the fixed pattern can be reduced further.
