PURPOSE: To provide a computer work station for executing an application for participating a video conference.

CONSTITUTION: This work station is provided with a video adapter card 18 which converts a video signal generated by a camera 20 into a formal peculiar to hardware. In the same way, the video adapter card 18 can be used for the display of the coming video signal of the format peculiar to the same hardware. The work station is provided with a software support module(SSM) 16. At a capture end, the SSM 16 supplies the video signal of a bit map formal to be transmitted to a terminal in conference which is not provided with any video hardware with interchangeability. In response to this, at a display end, an SSM 34 receives and displays the video signal of the bit map format coming from another work station which is not provided with any hardware with interchangeability.
