Title:
CONCENTRATION MEASURING DEVICE FOR NONMETHANE ORGANIC COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS564052
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a device for measuring the concentration of a nonmethane organic compound at a high accuracy, by suitably arranging an oxidation furnace for use in oxidizing the nonmethane organic compounds contained in a sample from which CO, CO2 and CH4 have been removed beforehand, a reduction furnace for use in reducing CO2, which is generated in the oxidation furnace, to CH4, and a hydrogen flame ionization detector.

CONSTITUTION: A sample is sent with a carrier gas A, such as nitrogen, from a sample valve 1 to the first column or a cooling trap 2 so as to remove CO, CO2 and CH4 from nonmethane organic compounds contained in the sample. The resulting sample is introduced into an oxidation furnace 3 so as to be oxidized with heat as oxygen (a) is supplied thereto, and H2O and CO2 generated in the furnace 3 are separated from O2 in the second column or a cooling trap 4. The CO2 held in the second column or a cooling trap 4 is then sent to a reduction furnace 5, in which the CO2 is reduced to CH4 as hydrogen (b) is supplied thereto. The concentration of CH4 is measured by using a hydrogen flame ionization detector 6. Thus, the concentration of nonmethane organic compound in the sample can be determined.
