Abstract:
To provide the use of a special condensate for re-tanning iron-tanned leather, to provide a method for re-tanning the iron-tanned leather, and to provide leather containing the condensate.
There is provided the use of the condensate for re-tanning the iron-tanned leather, wherein the condensate is based on at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (A) a sulfonated aromatic compound, (B) an aldehyde and/or a ketone, and, optionally, (C) a nonsulfonated aromatic compound, and wherein the content of a naphthalenesulfonic acid/formaldehyde condensate and the content of a condensate based on phenol and formaldehyde are each below 25 mass%, advantageously below 5 mass%, based on the entire weight of the condensate in every time.
