NEW MATERIAL:The condensed heterocyclic compound of formula I (R1WR3 are H or lower alkyl; R4 and R5 are H, lower alkyl or together with adjacent N- atom form an aliphatic cyclic amino group; n is 1 or 2; m is 0 or 1).
EXAMPLE: 1, 3, 4, 6-Tetrahydro-6-methyl-8-morpholinomethyl-2H-5, 1-benzothiazocine.
USE: It suppresses the secretion of gastric juice, and is useful as an antiulcer agent. It can be administered orally or parenterally by injection.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the ω- substituted-thioalkylaniline derivative of formula II with a halogen or an active halogen compound, subjecting the resultant novel compound of formula III (Y is halogen) to ring-condensation reaction, and if necessary, alkylating the product or alkylating, acylating and e.g. reducing the product.
