Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a congestion prevention method for a packet network in which congestion is preperly prevented by detecting the occurrence of congestion thereby controlling a bit rate of a sender side and to provide a communication system using the method.
CONSTITUTION: A packet transmission section 300 of a transmission terminal equipement 101 generates a packet and a transmission time interval Tp and a destination address are added to the packet and the resulting packet is sent to a transmission line 123. A reception terminal equipment 102 receives the packet from the transmission line via a transmission line interface control section 130, a packet reception section 500 detects a packet transmission time interval and activates continuously a timer whose time is set so as to be expired by the same time as the transmission time interval informed from an optical time and detects the number of received packets and detects the congestion by the comparison between the received packet number and the number of occurrence of expired timers.
