Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting device for electrode which can automatically connect a main electrode to an in-furnace electrode without giving damages to the thread of the electrode through safe operation.
SOLUTION: A connector 2 is carried to a furnace 9 side in such a way that the connector 2 is hung from a hanging machine 1 and connected to a main electrode 8 stocked on an electrode stand 6. The connector 2 is provided with a connection nipple 51 provided at the lower end of the connector 2, a motor-driven torque wrench which rotates the nipple 51, a balancer which absorbs the lead-stroke moving amount of a screw when the connector 2 is connected to the electrode 8 with the screw, and a lock ring which can instantaneously release the tightening torque at the time of disconnecting the connected electrode 8. At the time of connecting the connector 2 to the electrode 8, the nipple 51 is screwed in the socket 8a of the electrode 8.
