To provide a connection device with a connection board and a protecting member in the same structure applicable to sockets in which the electronic components that differ in size are mounted.
In use, the protecting member 31 is placed on the connection board having a number of elastic contacts. The protecting member 31 has an insulating coat formed on the surface of a press-molded metal plate. The protecting member 31 has through-holes 37, opened where the protruded electrodes of the electronic component are connected to the elastic contacts. At four positioning regions 38, resin layers are formed with positioning-recessed portions which are fitted to the electrodes of the electronic component to position the electronic component. The protecting member 31 has four large opening portions 36 formed. Even if an electronic component of any size is mounted therein, abutting portions for positioning the corner portions of the electronic component can be arranged inside the opening portions 36.
