Both deflecting pieces 11 of a short-circuiting terminal 8 are mounted in cantilever form with a posture laid along female terminal fittings 6 from the deep wall of the housing chamber 9 of a female housing 1, and a contact part 14 elastically contacts them, whereby both female terminal fittings 6 are mutually short-circuited. The deflecting pieces 11 are preliminarily formed in the state slightly swollen downward. A male housing 2 has pressing parts 24 for pressing pressed parts 13 of the tips of the deflecting pieces 11 is protrusively provided. When both housings 1, 2 are mutually fitted, the ribs 24 are protruded from the front into the housing chamber 9 to press the pressed parts 13. Thus, the deflecting pieces 11 are deflected and deformed in such a manner that the longitudinal central parts are further swollen downward, and according to this, the contact parts 14 are separated from the female terminal fittings 6 while retreated to the housing chamber 9 side, whereby the short- circuited state is released.
