To provide a connector for preventing erroneous insertion even between the connector and a mating connector which does not have the special shape for preventing the erroneous insertion.
A connector 100 includes erroneous insertion prevention means 50 for allowing insertion of a mating connector when the mating connector inserted into an insertion space part 40 is a first connector, and hindering the insertion of the mating connector when the mating connector inserted into the insertion space part 40 is a second connector which is different from the first connector at a shell 30 which covers a housing 20 and constitutes the insertion space part 40 into which the mating connector is inserted. The erroneous insertion prevention means 50 is constituted of: a spring part 51 which can be elastically deformed in the vertical direction of a shell 30 perpendicular to the horizontal direction of the shell 30; a connector detection part 52 which is provided in the spring part 51, and extruded from the insertion space part 40 to its outside when the first connector is inserted into the insertion space part 40; and an insertion hindrance part 53 which is provided on the rear side of the connector detection part 52 of the spring 51 and the center side of the insertion space part 40, and when the second connector is inserted into the insertion space part 40, hinders the insertion of the second connector.
