Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothen the change of vehicle speed by computing recomended vehicle speed based on road information, and when the desired running vehicle speed is higher than the recomended vehicle speed, after setting the desired running vehicle speed as a target vehicle speed, gradually decreasing the target vehicle speed up to the recomended vehicle speed with the lapse of time. SOLUTION: A control part begins constant speed running control when a driver operates the starting switch of a constant speed running control device, and the vehicle speed at the time is stored as a desired target vehicle speed (a1). A recomended vehicle speed Vmax as an upper limit speed value capable of shifting to a speed limit territory existing in front of the advancing direction of the vehicle at the present position by appropriate deceleration is computed (a2). When the target vehicle speed Vm is higher than the recomended vehicle speed Vmax (a13), step-down speed γ corresponding to the lapse of time is computed (a14), the vehicle speed is decreased from the target vehicle speed Vm to a new target vehicle speed Vm by the step-down speed γ, and the vehicle speed is controlled (a15). Thus the target vehicle speed Vm can be appropriately set, and hence a deceleration shock can be softened.
