Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare contact lenses from a copolymer of a polyion complex, obtd. by the matrix polymn. of a cationic deriv. of dextran with an unsatd. acid, and an olefin compd.
CONSTITUTION: Contact lenses are prepd. from a copolymer obtd. by polymerizing a cationic deriv. of dextran of the formula I [wherein X is -(CH2)nR1 (R1 being -NH2 or the like), -OR2 (R2 being -CH2.NH2 or the like), -CH2CH(OH).CH2 R3 (R3 being -NH2 or the like); 0<a≤3; and 50,000≥x≥5] with a 3-17C unsatd. carboxylic acid and a vinyl compd. of the general formula II [wherein R5 to R7 are each H or CH3; and R8 is -COCN, -OH, -OCOR11 (R11 being 1-8C alkyl), phenyl, pyridine, tolyl or pyrrolidone].
