Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for distributing an electronic content item for consumption as well as advertisements.SOLUTION: A content provider creates a license for identifying one or more slots in an electronic content item into which advertisements should be inserted. The license designates one or more types of advertisements which are not allowed to be inserted into the slots, and designates a reference for dynamically selecting the advertisements to be inserted into one or more slots. The content provider safely associates the electronic license with the electronic content item, and distributes the electronic content item and the electronic license to a third person for consumption or following transmission to an end user.
