PURPOSE: To continuously measure the amount of unburnt component in a duct in a time series manner by a method wherein the burnt exhaust gas in the duct is sucked with the equal velocity and collected outside the duct, part of a sampler tube is heated to burn the unburnt component, and the concentration of soot before and after the burning is measured.
CONSTITUTION: The velocity of a gas in a duct 1 is measured by a sensor part 9 of a flow speed detector 8. The rotating number of a suction pump 7 is controlled by the detecting signal of the sensor part. A burnt exhaust gas including burnt ashes 2 is sucked into a sampler tube 3 with the same velocity as the gas velocity in the duct 1. The penetrating/scattering amount of light of the burnt ashes 2 in the sucked gas is measured by casting electromagnetic waves to the gas through an electromagnetic wave penetrating window 5 in the upstream. The concentration of soot is thus obtained. The unburnt component is completely burnt in a part 3b to be heated. The concentration of soot is similarly measured through an electromagnetic penetrating window 6 at the downstream. An operator 16 operates the amount of the unburnt component. Accordingly, the unburnt component is continuously measured in a time series manner.
