Abstract:
To provide a new technique not causing a defect in a cast piece, in particular a cross-sectional defect obtained in a continuous casting of a beam.
In continuously casting the beam blank by pouring the molten steel in a mold provided with flanges on both sides of a web and an H-shaped cross section, a space between a pair of side rolls supporting the side face of the both flanges of the cast piece and the side face of the cast piece is held within the range of 0.0017-0.0035 times of the diameter striding between both flanges of the lower end opening of the mold.
