Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD BY USING HEAT-REMOVING VARIABLE MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06292947
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of the cracking on the surface of a cast slab by using a heat-removing variable mold which can adjust the cooling speed corresponding to the casting speed by a mold where the heat-removing characteristics are variable in the continuous casting of steel.

CONSTITUTION: The level 3 of the molten steel surface is positioned downward by 10mm or more from the boundary with the ceramics on the copper plate surface 1 without the ceramics in a normal case when the casting speed is over 0.5m/min by using the mold where the upper part of the mold for the continuous casting made of the water-cooled copper plate 1 is notched, and the ceramics 6 is attached thereto. When the casting speed is reduced to 0.5m/min or below, level 3 of the molten steel surface is positioned at the ceramics surface 6 to the upper part of the mold to execute the continuous casting of steel. In addition, the heat-removing characteristics can be variable by embedding the heating element into the upper part of a water-cooled continuous casting mold made of copper. This constitution prevents the surface temperature of the mold from being dropped, the thickness of the film of the powder from being increased, and also prevents occurrence of the cracking on the surface of the cast slab.
