Title:
CONTINUOUS ELECTROLYTIC WATER GENERATOR HAVING SILVER ELECTROLYZER IN WATER SUPPLY PIPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05329481
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the propagation of bacteria even if water is retained in an electrolytic cell and to obtain sterilized electrolytic water in the continuous electrolytic water generator by providing a silver electrolyzer for eluting silver into water when impressed with a voltage to a pipeline on the water supply side of the electrolytic cell.

CONSTITUTION: A silver electrolyzer 10 is provided in a pipeline 7 at the water supply side of an electrolytic cell 1, silver ion is eluted into the raw water passing through the pipeline 7, and then electrolysis is carried out. A part of the eluted silver ion combines with oxygen, chlorine, etc., in the water to form silver oxide, silver chloride, etc., and hence the water contg. silver oxide and silver chloride is introduced into the electrolytic cell 1 and electrolyzed. Since an hydroxyl group is liberated as the ion in the cathode compartment 5 of the electrolytic cell 1, the silver ion combines with the hydroxyl ion in the alkaline water in the cathode compartment 5 to form silver hydroxide, hence the sterilizing power is remarkably increased, large amts. of silver oxide and silver chloride are formed in the acidic water in the anode compartment 6, and the sterilizing power is imparted.
