To provide a continuous process of manufacture and after-treatment of polysaccharide derivatives.
(a) A suspension liquid flow consisting of a solid SE and a liquid phase LE is, as necessary, pre-heated at 185°C and continuously introduced into the top portion of the column, as necessary, under a pressure buffer up to 6×106 Pa. Then, the same or a different liquid phase is filled at the same temperature. (b) The solid SE is freely passed through the liquid phase L by gravity and settled at the bottom of the column. In this step, the solid SE is converted into a solid SA by the reaction with the liquid L and/or conditioning. (c) An ascending gas G is discharged from the column at the top. (d) While the filled liquid level is maintained at a specific level, the solid SA is again discharged continuously from the bottom of the column as a suspension liquid by adding the liquid phase LR which is previously taken out from the top of the column and transported to the bottom of the column through a separate connection part and/or by a liquid phase LN newly added from the outside to the bottom.
