Abstract:
Prodn. of synthesis gas comprises continuous simultaneous gasification of liq. and solid carbonaceous materials with an O2-contg. gas and steam in a gasifier-contg. a fluidised bed of the solid material surmounted by a gas phase at a max. temp. of 816-1316 degrees C. The liq. material is injected into the gas phase in the vicinity of the upper boundary of the fluidised bed in such a way that a substantial proportion of the liq. material contacts the upper boundary in liq. form. Depending on the gasification conditions, the prod. gas can be used as a fuel (e.g. with a heating value of >2670 kcal/Nm3) or for methanol or ammonia synthesis. Rapid mixing and temp. equilibration occurs at the gas/dense phase interface, giving high gas prodn. rates from both the liq. and the solid feeds.
