Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a control apparatus of a vehicle internal combustion engine which can protect an electronic apparatus from breakage, when a generator is failed by an overvoltage and can keep the continuous traveling of a vehicle.
SOLUTION: When an overvoltage failure of a vehicle generator 3 is detected from a voltage generated by the vehicle generator 3 and a voltage of a battery 4, a maximum revolution limiting device 13, which is used for avoiding the overrevolution of an internal combustion engine, is controlled to suppress the revolution; and further, electrical loads, such as a headlight 5, a heater wire 6, etc., which consume relatively large current and whose connections will not cause hazards for a traveling vehicle, are connected to suppress an overvoltage. By controlling the increase/decrease of the connected electrical loads according to the magnitude of the overvoltage, the vehicle can keep on traveling, even if the overvoltage failure occurs.
