PURPOSE: To obtain a circuit and a method controlling power consumption of a disk drive.
CONSTITUTION: A control circuit for a disk drive and method thereof are provided with a micro-controller 144, which is programmed by a vender or of which instructed by a user, in addition to control for whole operation of the disk drive and controls operation process for decreasing power consumption. Also, the disk dive control circuit is provided with a memory 146 which stores a program for operating the disk drive. The memory 146 includs a profile (a table for current to access time, etc.) which controls a current. An actuator current controller 152 restricts a current to an actuator based on an instruction from the micro-controller. A spindle motor current controller 154 restricts a current to a spindle motor based on an instruction from the micro-controller.
