Abstract:

PURPOSE: To avoid the catch of a weft between a wooden bobbin and a shuttle or on a circumferential part in the case of fitting a new cop on a standing tongue.
CONSTITUTION: A robot arm 26 having a cop-holding hand 27 for the automatic exchange of an old cop with a new cop 32 is provided with a weft-gripping hand 28. In setting a new weft on a weft-knotting apparatus for tying an old weft with a new weft 34, the new weft is passed through a hooking tool and a weft-gripping chuck. The part of the new weft between the hooking tool and the weft-gripping chuck is held with the weft-gripping hand and the new cop is held with the cop-holding hand 27 while gripping the weft and put on a tongue 18. The new weft is supported by the weft-gripping hand in a state separated from the new cop and, accordingly, the sagging of the weft is prevented and the catch of the weft between the base end 35a of the wooden bobbin and the shoulder face 18a of the tongue or on the circumferential part can be avoided.
