To provide a control data preparation method for twisting while enables application of twisting to a long size stock in a twisting angle differing along the axis by using a pair of dies rotating relatively each other around the axis of a long size stock.
A twisting angle ψ around the axis per unit length specified in the axial direction, that is, in the direction of a line of centroid, that is, a specific twisting angle around the axis in the direction of a line of centriod is calculated based on shape data. A distribution curve 71 showing the variation in the specific twisting angle ψ around the axis is depicted in the direction of a line of centriod. In the distribution curve 71 before the maximum value, an approach distance L measured between a pair of dies is multiplied by the specific twisting angle ψ, a relative rotation angle C required between a pair of dies is derived. In the distribution curve 71 after the maximum value, the relative rotation angle C is specified by the integral value of the specific twisting angles ψ around the axis calculated over the approach distance L.
