PURPOSE: To perform simple and reliable block and release of movement of a position pin to other range than a parking range by a method wherein a bush is supported on the outer peripheral surface of a shift lever body,and the bush is selectively rotated by means of a solenoid and a manual means.

CONSTITUTION: A position pin 3 of a shift lever is supported to a rod 6 so that it is elevated within an oblong hole 4 of a lever body 5. In this case, a bush 10 is rotatably supported on the outer peripheral surface of the lever body 5, and movement of the position pin 3 to other range than a parking range is blocked by a block surface 10a, and the movement is permitted by an engaging part 11. A solenoid 13 is coupled to the bush 10, and the bush 10 is rotated so that only during control of a brake, the engaging part 11 coincides with the position of the position pin 3 located in the parking range. A manual means 23 is mounted in a manner to front on the bush 10, and the bush 10 is rotated to a position, allowing the position pin 3 to move, by means of a force higher than that of the solenoid 13.
