Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes image forming means for forming a toner image on a sheet, a first rotating body 41 and a second rotating body 42 that heat the toner image formed by the image forming means, and contact/separation means 47 for contacting/separating the first rotating body from the second rotating body, and to prevent the occurrence of abnormal images such as image unevenness associated with plastic deformation of the first rotating body and second rotating body.SOLUTION: A control device has a first mode of making an image forming apparatus stand by in a state capable of operating contact/separation means 47, a second mode of making the image forming apparatus stand by in a state incapable of operating the contact/separation means 47, and a third mode of stopping a DC power source of the image forming apparatus. In shifting from the second mode to the third mode, when the first and second rotating bodies are in contact with each other, the control device temporarily shifts to the first mode. The control device includes mode shifting means for shifting to the third mode after the contact/separation means 47 separates the first rotating body 41 from the second rotating body 42.
