PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability of a control device for an electric motor coach by connecting a series circuit of a resistor and a switch to a main power source side of a variable voltage/variable frequency inverter when the main power source is interrupted and a brake command is dispatched and charging a filter condenser by an auxiliary power source to form a regenerative brake circuit.
CONSTITUTION: A main power source 16 drives an induction motor 8 which is connected to a variable voltage/variable frequency inverter 7 through a parallel circuit which has a pantograph 1, a disconnecting switch 2, a filter reactor 3 a high speed breaker 4 and a limiting resistor 5. An auxiliary power source 13 has a power source 9 such as a battery or the like, an auxiliary inverter 10, a transformer 11 and a rectifier 12. When the power source 16 is interrupted to produce a brake command, the condenser 6 is connected capable of being charged with the prescribed DC voltage. A series circuit of a resistor 14 having the prescribed resistance and a switch 15 is connected in parallel with the filter 6. When the power source 16 is interrupted during running, the power source 13 is operated by the brake command to charge the condenser 6, and the inverter 7 is started. The switch 15 is closed to stop an electric motor vehicle by the regenerative brake.
