Abstract:
To suppress generation of torque more than necessary while suppressing instability in combustion of main injection by utilizing evaporative latent heat of water injected to a combustion chamber, in enriching an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas by using post injection.SOLUTION: In recovering NOx storage capacity of an NSR catalyst 56, post injection is performed from a fuel injection valve 15 to enrich an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas. Water is injected from a water injection valve 18 between main injection and the post injection, so that a temperature (in-cylinder temperature) of a combustion chamber 14 in main combustion is lowered to reduce an output torque. Thus, generation of torque more than necessary can be suppressed without reducing a main injection amount to a degree that the combustion becomes instable.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
