PURPOSE: To prevent corrosion cracks of a structure member of a cooling water system due to stress by a method wherein pure water is electrolyzed by means of a water electrolysis cell and hydrogen generated in the electrolysis is introduced into a primary cooling water system of a nuclear reactor so that dissolved oxygen concentration of the cooling water is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen/hydrogen supplying device 10 is connected to a position in the way of pipe line from a condenser 5 to a water-supplying pump 6. The oxygen/ hydrogen supplying device 10 supplies ultra purity which is generated by a secondary purity device 12 to a water electrolysis cell 20. The water electrolysis cell 20, which is constituted of an anode chamber and a cathode chamber utilizing, as a diaphragm, a solid polyelectrolyte membrane having electrode in which both faces of an ion exchange membrane is chemically plated with a metal, electrolyzes the pure water so that hydrogen is generated in the cathode side. A gas/liquid separation device 31 allows the hydrogen generated in the cathode side of the water electrolysis cell 20 to become a hydrogen gas and moisture in the hydrogen is removed by a dehumidification device 40. The gas is injected into cooling water of a nuclear reactor by a pressure-raising device 50 so that a dissolved oxygen concentration of the primary cooling water is reduced.
