Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent an over load of an electric power unit by setting the maximum electric current value according to turbine rotational speed to restrict the value of current at the time of electrification on the basis of the capacity of the electric power unit for supplying electric power to a rotary electric machine for a turbocharger.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary electric machine 3 is installed on the turbine shaft 12 of a turbocharger 1 for increasing intake pressure by recovering exhaust energy of an engine 2, and electric power is supplied from a battery 5 to the rotary electric machine 3 through an electric power unit 4 so as to energize supercharging operation of the turbocharger 1 by electric driving. The maximum electric power value is set according to rotational speed transmitted from a turbine rotational speed sensor 15 on the basis of the capacity of the inverter of the electric power unit 4, and the power value is so restricted as to never exceed the maximum electric current value which is set at the time of electrification to the rotary electric machine 3 in order to prevent the over load of the electric power unit 4.
