PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of automatic working machine with a cutting function for wide flange shape steel, which can use a conventional working program with a working origin being placed on the origin stopper side at the time of cutting a long standard length wide flange shape steel product, and ensure the working precision of the last member remaining on the gripper side. SOLUTION: This automatic finishing machine with a cutting function for wide flange shape steel is formed so that its carriage 4 may be driven by a servomotor while moving amount is being detected by a length measuring means, press-touch sensors 2a, 3a may be attached respectively to an origin stopper 2 and a gripper 3 for gripping the end part of wide flange shape steel material, a dimension (length) excluding the margin of the shape steel material W to be worked may be registered in a control device, the shape steel material W supplied from a supply device 1 is brought into press-contact with the origin stopper and the gripper 3, and if both the sensors 2a, 3a detect this, the end of the shape steel material W is gripped by the gripper 3, the real length of the shape steel material W is measured from the present position of the carriage 4 by the length measuring means, a difference between them is calculated from the measured actual material length and the registered material length, and the working position of a working program is corrected automatically.
