PURPOSE: To provide a control method of a band plate cutting device, which promotes the simplification of device equipment, and capacitates it to cut a band plate in a highly accurate manner.

CONSTITUTION: A driving motor 16 is controlled on the basis of a conveying distance being measured by a motor range finder 16a, thereby performing the conveyance of a band plate 1. In addition, the conveyance of this band plate 1 is once stopped at a position where a rear end position 1c of the scheduled band plate for cutting becomes more adjacent at the upstream side than a shear 4. Then, a residual conveying distance ΔD2 lying between the rear end position 1c and a cutting position of the shear 4 is calculated by a difference between the preset cutting length and the conveying distance measured by a roll range finder 5a. In succession, drive of the driving motor 16 is controlled on the basis of this residual conveying distance ΔD2.
