PURPOSE: To improve the quality and yield of products by measuring the transverse bend quantity and the wedge quantity of a rolled stock after the completion of the final pass, determining the set error of nonuniform rolling-down of two passes from the measured results and correcting the error by two passes when rolling the next stock.
CONSTITUTION: In rough rolling process by plural passes or with plural stands 1, 2, 3, 4, the transverse bend quantity and the wedge quantity of the rolled stock 5 are measured with bend detectors 6, 6' and wedge detectors 7, 7' before rolling pass. From the measured results, the transverse bend quantity and the wedge quantity after the completion of rolling are predicted and the bend and wedge are controlled by performing nonuniform rolling-down of two passes so as to cancel them. The transverse bend quantity and the wedge quantity of the rolled stock after the conpletion of the final pass are measured, the set error of nonuniform rolling-down of the two passes is determined from the measured results and the error is corrected using a rolling-down controller by two passes when rolling the next stock. In this way, the efficiency of rolling work can be raised.
