Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the proper driving power of acceleration and an engine brake effect, by enabling speed change ratio of a forward range to be selected so that the ratio is prevented from decreasing smaller than the control value. CONSTITUTION:A control unit stores in memory a speed change pattern for two forward ranges. One is an economical pattern in which speed change ratio is controlled from the minimum speed change ratio to the maximum speed change ratio in accordance with an engine load and a car speed. The other one is a power pattern in which the speed change ratio is controlled in no relation to the engine load and the car speed so that the ratio is prevented from becoming a level not larger than a predetermined control value larger than the minimum speed change ratio. And the power pattern is selected when sporty running is desired. Then the control unit, if it recognizes in steps 602, 624, 626, etc. a car speed V being larger than a predetermined speed V0 in a forward range further the power pattern being selected, operates so as to control a transmission by the stored power pattern.
