To provide a development support device capable of simply detecting and displaying respective program components such as commands of an output system affecting other commands, and of extracting and displaying other commands related to the commands.
This development support device comprises a ladder program storage part 34a , and a storage 34b for recording predetermined components including output commands constituting the ladder program, together with information about the sequence of their appearance on the ladder program. A display screen is provided with a ladder display section for displaying the ladder program, an outline information display section for displaying outline information in a tree form by arranging it in the sequence of the appearance thereof, and a cross-reference information display part. The outline information is associated with the ladder program by using unique index numbers specific to the components, commands having the same operand as the command designated on the ladder program are extracted, and information about the extracted commands is displayed in the cross-reference information display section.
